Causes of Autistic Disorder
According to National Institute of Mental Health:
Genetic Causes:
Autistic Disorder is a genetic mutation. In most cases, autism does not run in a family's history.
Environmental Causes:
Many studies are currently underway researching environmental causes of Autistic Disorder. Although research is still ongoing, scientists have found that likely, more than one environmental factor, as well as a genetic mutation may lead to Autistic Disorder.
Vaccines:
Some people believe that there is a link between vaccines and Autistic Disorder. Because Autism is usually diagnosed before age 3, when children are receiving vaccinations, some parents believe they are to blame. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, there is no research linking vaccines and Autism.
